Adding a Show

When adding a show, you don't have to fill out all the fields in the Shows Collection all at once. You can fill them out as needed according to the stage of the show's lifecycle. Similarly, you can use placeholder artwork or text as needed and then come back later for updates when finals are available. Here's a guide of what to do at each stage:

Tip: Remember to check out the help text below each field in the collection for details about how they are used and how to populate them.

Tip: Changes are updated on the site as soon as they are saved, so just open the live site in another browser tab and refresh it to see your updates as you make them.

When the show is approved

There are no required fields that you have to fill out when the show is in Approved status, because it is not visible on the site. Use this status to get a jump on filling out the fields required for the Approved status.

When the show is announced

When the show is first approved, the following fields are required (missing data will result in weirdness):

  • Record Name

  • Show Status

  • Casting Status

  • Title

  • Hero Image

  • Background

  • Blurb

  • Description

  • Details

  • Start Date

  • Performance Dates

  • Thumbnail Image

  • Upcoming Line 1

  • Upcoming Line 2

  • Text Background Color

Tip: The details field is a Rich Text field, so you can use the controls to make headers, bold text, italics, etc., to get the look you want. Formatting is somewhat limited by the site theme, so trial and error will probably be needed to get the look you want.

When auditions are planned out

When plans for auditions have been finalized and are ready for announcement, fill out the Audition Info field and change the Casting Status to Auditions Scheduled.

Tip: The Audition Info Field is a Rich Content field, meaning you can format text and, embed images, links, etc. Again, however, formatting is somewhat limited by the site theme.

When casting is complete

When casting is complete, fill out the cast information in the Cast Collection (see the related article for details) and change the Casting Status to Casted.

When the show becomes the current production

When the show becomes the current production, change the Show Status to Current Production. Also finalize any placeholder images or text used in previous stages.

When tickets become available

Check the Tickets Available Checkbox and add the Ticket Link

When the show's run is over

Change the Show Status to Run Complete. Also fill out these fields:

  • Past Shows Caption

  • Past Shows Caption 2

Extras - show poster & cast photo

Optionally, add the Show Poster and Cast Photo whenever they become available. They are not required, and just won't appear on the site if not entered.
